At the risk of sounding like a broken record…records are made to be broken. This phrase is often used when discussing achievements in sports, and part of the game is rewriting history by breaking records. That is exactly what Thaddeus Breaux II did on October 30, 2025 when Hamilton High School took on Venice High School in a Thursday night matchup. Breaux completed 34 of his 47 pass attempts for 448 yards. He broke the CIF Los Angeles City Section single-season completion record, and he did it in his freshman season.
This particular game was designated as the senior night game for the Yankees, and freshman quarterback Breaux, did his part to help send the seniors out in style in their last regular-season home game. In a game that was decided after two overtime periods, Breaux ran in the game-tying touchdown in the second overtime. Jacob Riley came through in the clutch with the extra-point kick to seal the deal. Riley is an impressive player in his own right who handles both kick-off and field goal kicking duties, and he plays both sides of the ball.
The future looks bright for Breaux and the Yankees, and in their immediate future is a matchup against the Gardena Panthers in the first round of the Division 1 CIF LA City Section Playoffs.
