Glendale Community College renames stadium to honor former coach and athletic director John Cicuto.

On Thursday, October 9th, 2025, Glendale Community College renamed its football stadium to honor former head coach and athletic director John Cicuto.  The stadium will now be known as John Cicuto Stadium.  Cicuto has been a part of GCC athletics since 1975 when he became an assistant coach under Jim Satoris.  Cicuto would take over as head coach in 1989 when Satoris became the athletic director and hired Cicuto as his successor. Coach Cicuto held the head coaching position until 2007, and he ended his coaching career with a winning record of 98-95-2.  He served as GCC’s athletic director from 2007 to 2017.  He was inducted into the California Community Colleges Football Coaches Association (CCCFCA) Hall of Fame in 2017.

Former coaches, players, family and other supporters showed up to celebrate the moment with Coach Cicuto.  Unfortunately, the Vaqueros were unable to cap the night off with a win as they fell short against San Bernardino Valley College 38-21.  The highlight of the night, however, was bigger than the game of football.  It was a celebration of 50 years of service from a man who is a fixture in Glendale Community College.
